On Sunday, the 1st of May, 2022, during the concluding mass of Bishop Paul’s pastoral visit, you all witnessed a change of guard in our parish council. Some of those who completed their tenure in the council stepped down and a new team took oath to assist the parish priest in the administration of the parish. I congratulate the new team and wish them all the best and blessings from God.
Here I sincerely apologise to all those who stepped down from the previous parish council. It was so thoughtless of me to have forgotten to acknowledge the efficient and self-forgetting contributions they rendered to me in the running of a complex parish like St. Mary’s, Dubai. I fully realize that this cannot be undone through a few words written in this column. All the same knowing them and their love for me, I dare to put on record that our former Vice president Mathew Thomas and Secretary Lavina D'Souza did mind blowing contributions to take the parish council to another level altogether through their innovative ideas and determination to bring ideas to reality. They were ably assisted by Merrill Correa, James Joseph, Emolyn Buscit, Venith Torres, Nuha Ashqar, Nitheesh Xavier, Mathan Kumar, Renchen Pereira, Ajmal Christopher and Baptist Mariathasan. The various spiritual, cultural and humanitarian activities that the parish was able to execute during the past four years stand out as mark of their dedication and commitment to the overall welfare of our parish, What these guys did will never pale into oblivion; the facts will always remain for all to see.
