June 19, 2014It's been a year since the Family Ministry launched Hope and Life Movement Dubai to form a group of parishioners who lost their spouses, encouraging them to embrace the future with hope and life in Christ.
On June 19, 2014, Hope and Life Movement Dubai celebrated its first year Anniversary and at the same time joined the rest of the world in commemorating the International Widows Day. Holy Mass in the main church at 7pm by Fr. Michael Cardoz started the celebration of this major milestone followed by a social event in the mini hall. In his inspirational speech, Fr. Michael lovingly enjoined the widows/ers to "Fear not in times of loneliness, for God is there till the end of times".
To show vibrancy and full of hope attitude, the group prepared a program with a theme "Widow/ers Got Talent" showcasing the diverse talents of its members such as a wonderful rendition of the Hope and Life Theme Song "Jesus, Our Hope and Our Life" by the Widow/ers Chorale, Harmonica and Guitar number, Hindi song number and a dance production number to the tune of 'We are Family" by the Hope and Life Dance Troupe. The SCHOLD band provided live music for the games and community dancing which added fun and entertainment to the delight of members and their families. Bingo, prizes and delicious snacks completed the full package of a fantastic night.
A token of appreciation for the 25 regular members was given to acknowledge their time and efforts in religiously attending the group's monthly meeting every 3rd Thursday of the month at room no.2 of the Mini Hall from 7:30 pm-9:30 pm.
